A twin is like a mirror on
A childhood bedroom wall.
Even in one's memories,
No thought eludes reflection.
The partner of one's springtime is
The phantom of one's fall:
Even living far away,
Still part of each perception.
O bond unbreakable! The sharing
Of one crowded womb,
One birth, one infancy, one time
Two equally must own.
How beautiful! A lifelong pairing,
Though there now be room
Enough to roam the whole wide world
Yet never be alone.
